Position: Caregiver/PCA
Location: Denver CO
Job Description: We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to provide essential support to an individual with muscular dystrophy who is a student at the University of Denver. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with some lifting, a non-smoker, and willing to listen and learn from the student’s instructions. Training will be provided no matter the qualifications of the caregiver.
Responsibilities:
Assist with transferring the individual in and out of a power wheelchair and shower chair (full transfer)
Help with showering, toileting, dressing, and grooming routines
Aid in getting in and out of bed safely
Prepare and cook meals based on dietary needs
Maintain cleanliness by performing light cleaning tasks
Provide transportation assistance and help with running errands
Assist with laundry tasks and organizing clothing
Support the individual in exercising routines
Help to maintain certain adaptive equipment such as a BiPAP or CoughAssist
Requirements:
Experience in caregiving or related fields is preferred but not required
Ability to perform some lifting tasks - Hoyer lift provided if necessary.
Non-smoker.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable and responsible with a compassionate approach to caregiving
Willingness to cover for others if needed
Wage: Starting wage at $20-$25 per hour
Shifts:
• Overnight shift available with the option for caregivers to sleep (Timing is flexible, these shifts are typically 12 hours)
• Day shift also available (Timing is flexible, typically 4+ hours) Sat/Sun
