Hi, we are looking for a respite caregiver ideally with flexible hours that we can schedule in-home respite with (mostly afternoons and weekends-but flexible for the right candidate). We have a comfortable spacious home in Morgantown near Mountaineer Golf Course and will always ensure you have everything needed both to effectively care for our 2 autistic sons as well as yourself in any time spent watching our boys.
Our oldest son is 5 years old and on ID Waiver for non-verbal level 3 autism and KAT6A syndrome. He is a very sweet completely non-violent boy who just has lots of energy and absolutely LOVES to play.
We actually renovated our finished lower level to include a large sensory play area which also has it's own couch, TV, full bathroom, bedroom, office & gym that is currently used by our respite caregivers at their discretion for overnights or times when the boys are down for their nap. Our whole home is more than welcome to you and we typically order delivery carryout especially for longer visits.
Our younger son is 3.5 and also has level 3 non-verbal autism. While he has been accepted into Waiver; he is still on the wait list currently.
As such we cover his care directly which is on top of the normal hourly rates provided from Waiver for our older son. Ultimately we typically do at least $15/hour or $20-25+/hour for shorter notice (we understand you may not be available no worries!)
We are a very down-to-earth family who is seeking someone with patience, understanding, scheduling flexibility & kindness most of all. We always strive to reciprocate any help provided and simply need someone who is honest, caring and just generally shares our ethics!
Experience with non-verbal children (both completely non-violent and non-aggressive), children with autism/stimming tendencies, sensory & general quirkiness are pluses. Any experience of any capacity whatsoever in aiding non-verbal children in encouraging them to speak or otherwise communicate via any means (such as PECS cards etc.) is also a great plus- but most of all we just need the innate traits described above.
To us patience, kindness, flexibility, understanding and of course honesty definitely supersede experience. We are more than happy to do phone interviews with people who have no experience whatsoever but truly possess the fore mention traits. If you feel that could be you please don't hesitate to call anytime 304-559-2704 or 419-290-2714
Thanks & we look forward to touching base soon!
