Evening & Sunday Personal Care Assistant (Flexible Schedule Required)

Location: 4236 Ryan Ct, Gary, IN 46403
Program: Indiana PathWays for Aging – Self‑Directed Services (PALCO)
Compensation: Paid through PALCO (rate per program guidelines)
Schedule:

  • Evening Shift: 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM (7 days/week)
  • Sunday Coverage: Additional hours on Sundays
  • Flexibility Required: Occasional adjustments to start/end times or additional hours based on care needs

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, mature, and flexible Personal Care Assistant to join the care team supporting Nellie Neal, a bedbound senior with significant care needs. This role provides nightly evening coverage and dedicated Sunday support, with the expectation that the worker can adjust when needed to ensure continuity of care.

This position is part of the Indiana PathWays for Aging Self‑Directed Attendant Care program, and all payment is processed through PALCO. Training and onboarding will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with evening personal care routines
  • Provide repositioning, comfort measures, and safety checks
  • Assist with toileting or incontinence care as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Monitor for changes in condition and report concerns
  • Follow infection‑control and hygiene protocols
  • Document hours using Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
  • Provide Sunday coverage, which may include:
    • Morning care
    • Meal assistance
    • Repositioning
    • Safety monitoring
    • Light housekeeping related to care
  • Be flexible with scheduling to support occasional changes in care needs

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must pass identity verification through PALCO
  • Ability to complete required online training modules
  • Ability to lift, turn, and assist with mobility
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional
  • Respectful of privacy, boundaries, and household rules
  • Must comply with all health and safety protocols
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust hours when needed
  • Must provide at least two professional or character references

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNA experience appreciated
  • Experience with elder care, home care, or caregiving
  • Experience with bedbound clients
  • Familiarity with EVV systems (training provided)
