Position: Evening & Weekend Personal Care Assistant (Flexible Schedule Required) Location: 4236 Ryan Ct, Gary, IN 46403 Program: Indiana PathWays for Aging – Self‑Directed Services (PALCO) Compensation: $20.00 per hour, paid through PALCO

Schedule & Coverage Needs

We are seeking a dependable and flexible Personal Care Assistant to help cover evening and weekend gaps in care for a bedbound senior. This role is intended to support shifts currently covered by an outgoing caregiver.

Current Coverage Pattern

  • Evening Shift (Normally Covered): 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM (most nights already covered by an existing caregiver)

Primary Gaps in Coverage

These are available shifts, not mandatory hours:

  • Saturday: Gaps between 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

  • Sunday: Gaps between 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

  • Weekday Evenings: 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM only on days when the evening caregiver is unavailable

Flexibility Required

  • Ability to assist with weekend coverage (Saturday/Sunday gaps)

  • Willingness to pick up weekday evening shifts when needed

  • Ability to adjust start/end times based on care needs

Position Summary

This role supports Nellie Neal, a bedbound senior with significant care needs, in a private home setting. You will be part of a small, coordinated care team under the Indiana PathWays for Aging Self‑Directed Services program. All payment is processed through PALCO, and training/onboarding will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care (bathing assistance, hygiene, dressing support as needed)

  • Assist with repositioning, comfort measures, and safety checks

  • Assist with toileting or incontinence care

  • Support meal assistance and hydration

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment related to care

  • Monitor for changes in condition and report concerns promptly

  • Follow infection‑control and hygiene protocols

  • Document hours using Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)

  • Provide weekend coverage and weekday evening support when scheduled

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Must pass identity verification through PALCO

  • Ability to complete required online training modules

  • Ability to lift, turn, and assist with mobility

  • Dependable, punctual, and professional

  • Respectful of privacy, boundaries, and household rules

  • Must comply with all health and safety protocols

  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Must be flexible and able to adjust hours when needed

  • Must provide at least two professional or character references

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNA experience appreciated

  • Experience with elder care, home care, or caregiving

  • Experience with bedbound clients

  • Familiarity with EVV systems (training provided)
